Vanguard began corrugated production in 1979 focusing strictly on the custom manufacturing of corrugated boxes and die cuts. Jack Mathes, our founder believed there was a need in the marketplace for quality packaging at any quantity delivered on-time and at a fair price. That need still exists today.

Since 1979, Vanguard has grown to be the largest, privately owned sheet plant in Missouri or Kansas. We still go back to our roots everyday running almost half of all orders as custom boxes, die cuts and pads for our customer base throughout the Central Plains region. The difference today is the addition of state-of-the-art equipment and technology applied to the customer service levels usually found only at display shops. This unique combination is further enhanced by one of the nation’s most noted and respected Creative Services department.

Our capabilities today range from cost competitive long run orders to the smaller but equally important short run orders. We are capable of a range of boxes that go from simple plain, brown boxes to 5 color, direct flexo printed cartons. We can die cut boxes, pads and inserts in either a flat or rotary format from triple-wall down to the G or N micro flutes including the tricky matrix scoring rule for an improved appearance. Need an automatic bottom box or in-fold tray? No problem. Vanguard has the famous, world class J&L Specialty folder gluer to handle these tricky applications.
